A sit-up performed on a stability ball that increases the range of motion compared to the floor version, allowing the torso to extend past parallel and maximizing both the stretch and contraction of the abdominals. The curved surface also recruits stabilizing muscles throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Sit on a stability ball and walk your feet forward until the ball supports your lower back
  • Place your hands behind your head or cross them over your chest
  • Let your torso lower back over the ball until you are fully extended
  • Exhale and curl your torso upward, contracting your abdominals
  • Rise until your shoulders are over your hips at the top
  • Lower slowly back down to the fully extended position to maximize the stretch
