About this exercise

The single leg hip thrust jump is an advanced plyometric exercise that combines a single-leg hip thrust with an explosive jump. It develops unilateral glute power, hip extension strength, and overall lower-body athleticism, challenging balance and coordination under dynamic loading.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with your upper back resting against a bench or elevated surface
  • Plant one foot firmly on the floor close to your hips; extend the opposite leg straight out
  • Drive through the planted heel to thrust your hips upward explosively
  • As your hips reach full extension, push off powerfully to jump and leave the ground
  • Keep your core braced and avoid letting the hips rotate during the movement
  • Land softly on the same foot with a slight knee bend to absorb impact
  • Reset your position and repeat for the desired number of repetitions before switching legs
