About this exercise

The single leg board jump is a unilateral plyometric exercise where you explosively push off one foot to jump onto a raised board or box. It develops single-leg power, balance, and neuromuscular coordination while training the take-off and landing mechanics required for athletic movements.

How to Perform

  • Stand on one foot in front of a low board or box with the knee of your standing leg slightly bent
  • Load your hip and knee by sitting slightly back, swinging your arms behind you
  • Explosively drive your arms forward and upward while pushing off the ground to jump onto the board
  • Land softly on the same foot, absorbing the impact by bending your knee and hip
  • Pause briefly on the board to establish balance, then step back down to the floor
  • Reset your position and complete all reps on one leg before switching
