About this exercise

A beginner-friendly unilateral push-up variation performed against a wall that reduces the load compared to a floor push-up while training single-arm chest, shoulder, and triceps strength. The inclined angle makes it accessible for beginners or those rehabbing shoulder function.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a wall at arm's length and place one hand flat against it at chest height
  • Step your feet back slightly so your body forms a straight diagonal line from head to heels
  • Place your free hand behind your back or on your hip
  • Bend your elbow to lower your chest toward the wall, keeping your body rigid
  • Stop when your elbow is roughly at a 90-degree angle or your chest nearly touches the wall
  • Press through your palm to push back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one arm, then switch to the other side
