About this exercise

One of the most demanding calisthenics feats, requiring exceptional lat, bicep, and core strength to pull your entire bodyweight up with one arm. It demands extensive preparation and is considered an elite-level skill that takes months or years of dedicated training to achieve.

How to Perform

  • Grip the pull-up bar with one hand in an overhand grip, shoulder aligned under the bar
  • Keep the non-working arm at your side or lightly touch the working wrist for balance only
  • Brace your core firmly and keep your body as vertical as possible
  • Drive your elbow down forcefully to initiate the pull
  • Continue pulling until your chin clears the bar
  • Lower yourself slowly and under control back to the full dead-hang position
  • Rest adequately between reps and switch arms as needed
