About this exercise

A lateral agility drill that involves rapidly stepping one foot out to the side and bringing it back in, alternating sides continuously. It develops lateral quickness, hip abductor strength, and cardiovascular endurance, and is widely used in sports conditioning.

How to Perform

  • Stand in an athletic position with feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent
  • Quickly step one foot out to the side, then bring it back to the centre
  • Immediately step the other foot out to the opposite side and bring it back
  • Continue alternating sides as fast as possible with control
  • Keep your hips low and stay on the balls of your feet throughout
  • Maintain a light, rhythmic pace and use your arms for balance and momentum
  • Continue for the designated duration
