About this exercise

A dynamic bodyweight conditioning drill in which you throw alternating punches to the left and right while rotating your torso, engaging the shoulders, chest, and core. It elevates the heart rate quickly and improves rotational power and coordination.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and fists raised near your chin in a guard position
  • Rotate your torso to the left and extend your right arm in a cross punch to the left side
  • Quickly rotate back to center and then to the right, extending your left arm in a cross punch to the right side
  • Alternate punches fluidly from side to side, pivoting on the rear foot with each punch
  • Keep your core engaged and hips rotating to generate power
  • Maintain a steady rhythm for the desired number of reps or duration
