About this exercise

The Side to Front Knee Up is a dynamic bodyweight drill that combines a lateral step with a high knee lift, improving hip mobility, coordination, and cardiovascular conditioning. The movement trains the hip flexors and quadriceps while challenging balance and spatial awareness.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet together and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Step one foot out to the side, then shift your weight onto that foot
  • Drive the opposite knee up in front of you as high as comfortable
  • Lower the raised leg and bring your feet back together
  • Alternate sides, stepping out to the right and then to the left
  • Keep your core engaged and maintain an upright posture throughout
  • Continue at a steady, controlled pace for the desired number of reps
