About this exercise

A plyometric cardio movement that pairs a lateral step with a crunching motion, engaging the abs and obliques while keeping the heart rate elevated. The lateral component adds hip and leg work, making it an efficient full-body conditioning drill.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet together and hands lightly behind your head
  • Step one foot out to the side while simultaneously crunching your torso toward the stepping knee
  • Return to the starting position by bringing the feet together and extending the torso upright
  • Repeat on the same side or alternate sides for the prescribed reps
  • Keep the core engaged and avoid pulling on your neck with your hands
