About this exercise

The side step boxing handroll is a boxing-inspired cardio drill that combines lateral footwork with continuous circular hand rolls, improving agility, coordination, and cardiovascular endurance. The continuous arm motion engages the shoulder stabilizers while the lateral steps train reactive lower-body movement.

How to Perform

  • Stand in an athletic stance with feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent
  • Begin rolling both hands in a forward circular motion at chest or mid-body height
  • Step to the right with your right foot, bringing your left foot to meet it, while continuing to roll your hands
  • Step to the left with your left foot, bringing your right foot to meet it, while continuing to roll your hands
  • Maintain a slight forward lean and stay light on your feet throughout
  • Keep the hand roll motion fluid and continuous without breaking rhythm
  • Continue for the desired duration, varying the speed to increase intensity
