About this exercise

The Side Push Neck Stretch is an assisted static stretch where you use your hand to gently push the head to one side, increasing the stretch of the lateral neck muscles. The added pressure from the hand deepens the stretch beyond what gravity alone provides.

How to Perform

  • Sit or stand tall with your shoulders relaxed and spine neutral
  • Place one hand on the opposite side of your head, just above the ear
  • Slowly tilt your head toward the hand side, bringing your ear toward your shoulder
  • Use gentle hand pressure to deepen the stretch along the opposite side of the neck
  • Keep your opposite shoulder down and relaxed throughout
  • Hold for the desired duration, breathing steadily
  • Slowly return to the upright position and repeat on the other side
