About this exercise

A demanding core and shoulder stability exercise that combines a side plank with a torso rotation and a lateral arm raise. From a side plank position you rotate your upper body downward, then unwind and raise your top arm out to the side, simultaneously challenging oblique strength and shoulder stability.

How to Perform

  • Start in a side plank position on one forearm with your body in a straight line and feet stacked
  • Reach your top arm underneath your torso, rotating your chest toward the floor
  • Reverse the rotation, returning to side plank, and continue lifting your top arm straight up toward the ceiling
  • Hold briefly at the top, then lower back to side plank position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other
