About this exercise

A dynamic side plank variation performed with the feet stacked against a wall for stability. You repeatedly lower and lift the hips from the side plank position, challenging the obliques, lateral core, and hip stabilisers through a full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side close to a wall and stack both feet against the wall for support
  • Place your bottom elbow directly beneath your shoulder and form a side plank, lifting your hips off the floor
  • Align your body in a straight line from head to feet
  • Slowly lower your hips toward the floor without letting them fully touch
  • Drive your hips back up to the full side plank position, squeezing your obliques
  • Keep your top hand on your hip or extended toward the ceiling for balance
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions per side
