About this exercise

The side plank knee tuck combines an isometric side plank hold with a dynamic knee drive to challenge the obliques, core, and hip flexors simultaneously. Starting in a side plank position, you repeatedly draw the top knee toward your chest, adding movement to an otherwise static hold.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side and prop yourself up on one forearm, stacking your feet or placing the top foot slightly in front
  • Lift your hips off the floor so your body forms a straight line from head to heels
  • Brace your core and keep your hips level throughout
  • Drive your top knee toward your chest in a controlled tuck
  • Extend the leg back to the starting position without letting your hips drop
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching
