About this exercise

A side-lying Pilates-inspired exercise in which you swing the top leg forward and back in a controlled arc while keeping the core stable and the body in a straight line. The movement targets the hip flexors, glutes, and outer thigh while challenging lateral core stability.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side with legs stacked, body in a straight line, and bottom arm extended to support your head
  • Engage your core and place your top hand lightly on the floor in front of your chest for balance
  • Lift the top leg slightly off the bottom leg to hip height
  • Kick the top leg forward as far as comfortable with a controlled flex of the foot
  • Swing the leg back behind the hip in a smooth, controlled arc, pointing the foot
  • Keep the torso and hips completely still throughout the movement
  • Complete all reps on one side before rolling over to the other side
