About this exercise

A bodyweight exercise performed lying on your side in which the bottom leg is raised toward the ceiling to target the inner thigh adductors. The movement isolates the often-neglected adductor muscles and improves hip stability with minimal joint stress.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side with your body in a straight line and head resting on your lower arm or hand
  • Stack your legs on top of each other; the top leg can be bent and placed in front for support if needed
  • Keep the bottom leg straight with toes pointed slightly forward
  • Slowly raise the bottom leg upward as high as you comfortably can while keeping it straight
  • Pause at the top and squeeze the inner thigh
  • Lower the leg back down in a controlled manner without letting it touch the floor
  • Complete all reps on one side, then roll over and repeat on the other
