About this exercise

The side kick through is a bodyweight calisthenics movement that starts in a bear crawl position, then rotates the hips and sweeps one leg through to the opposite side in a kicking motion. It challenges core stability, hip mobility, and rotational strength while alternating sides.

How to Perform

  • Begin in a bear crawl position on hands and toes with knees hovering slightly off the floor
  • Shift your weight onto your left hand and right foot
  • Rotate your hips to the right and sweep your left leg under and through toward the right side
  • Extend your left leg fully and raise your right hand off the floor to open your body
  • Pause briefly, then return your left leg back and reset to the bear crawl position
  • Repeat on the opposite side, alternating each repetition
