About this exercise

A standing oblique exercise performed beside a wall for support and alignment. The wall provides a fixed reference point that helps isolate the lateral flexion movement and keeps the body upright during the side crunch.

How to Perform

  • Stand sideways next to a wall with your side lightly touching it for balance
  • Place your hands behind your head or cross them over your chest
  • Lift your outer knee upward while simultaneously crunching your torso sideways toward that knee
  • Squeeze the oblique at the top of the movement, then lower back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other side
