About this exercise

A bodyweight core exercise performed from a side plank position where you lower and raise your hips in a controlled arc, dynamically targeting the obliques and lateral core stabilisers. Unlike a static side plank, the bending motion increases the range of work for the obliques.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side and prop yourself up on one forearm, keeping the elbow directly below the shoulder
  • Stack your feet on top of each other and lift your hips so your body forms a straight line from head to heels
  • Lower your hip toward the floor in a controlled movement without touching down
  • Drive your hip back up to the starting position, contracting the obliques forcefully
  • Keep your torso rigid and avoid rotating your hips forward or backward
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch and repeat on the other
