About this exercise

A lateral shuffle combined with a side leg lift that challenges lateral agility, hip abductor strength, and cardiovascular conditioning. Shuffling side to side and lifting the outer leg at each end of the movement activates the glutes and outer thighs while keeping the heart rate elevated.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet together, knees slightly bent, in an athletic ready position
  • Shuffle two to three quick steps to the right
  • As you reach the end of the shuffle, lift your right leg out to the side at hip height
  • Lower the leg, then shuffle back to the left at the same pace
  • Lift your left leg out to the side as you reach the left end
  • Keep your core engaged and your torso upright throughout
  • Continue alternating for the desired number of reps or duration
