About this exercise

A dynamic mobility stretch performed in a split-lunge position that combines a thoracic rotation with a shoulder rotation, opening the chest, shoulders, and hip flexors simultaneously. It improves rotational mobility and is an excellent warm-up movement for upper- and lower-body training sessions.

How to Perform

  • Step into a deep lunge with your right foot forward, lowering your back knee toward the floor
  • Place your left hand on the floor beside your right foot for support
  • Rotate your right arm and shoulder upward and back, opening your chest toward the ceiling
  • Follow the rotation with your gaze and hold the end position for a breath
  • Lower your right arm back down in a controlled manner
  • Continue for the desired reps, then switch sides
