About this exercise

A seated rotational exercise performed on a chair where you twist the torso from side to side while remaining upright. The movement targets the obliques and improves spinal rotation mobility, making it ideal for desk workers or those with limited mobility.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright near the edge of a sturdy chair with feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Cross your arms over your chest or extend them in front of you at shoulder height
  • Brace your core and keep your hips and lower body stationary throughout
  • Rotate your torso to the right as far as comfortably possible
  • Pause briefly at the end of the range
  • Return to center and rotate to the left with equal range
  • Keep the movement controlled, using your obliques rather than momentum
