About this exercise

A seated rotational mobility exercise performed on a padded stool, using a towel held with both hands to guide and resist the twisting motion. It improves thoracic rotation and oblique activation while keeping the hips stable.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a padded stool with feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Hold a towel with both hands at chest height, arms slightly extended in front of you
  • Brace your core and keep your hips square to the front
  • Exhale and rotate your torso to one side as far as comfortable, using the towel for leverage
  • Pause briefly at the end range of rotation
  • Inhale and return to the centre
  • Rotate to the opposite side for one complete rep
  • Perform the desired number of reps on each side
