About this exercise

A gentle static stretch performed while seated that targets the muscles along the sides and back of the neck. Regular practice helps relieve tension accumulated from prolonged sitting, screen use, or stress and improves cervical range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright in a chair or on the floor with your spine tall and shoulders relaxed
  • Let your right ear drop slowly toward your right shoulder until you feel a stretch along the left side of your neck
  • Place your right hand gently on top of your head to increase the stretch if desired — do not pull forcefully
  • Hold the stretch for 20–30 seconds while breathing slowly and deeply
  • Return your head to center and repeat on the opposite side
  • Perform 2–3 holds per side
