About this exercise

A low-impact rehabilitation and mobility exercise performed seated on a chair, involving alternating knee lifts that mimic a marching motion. It activates the hip flexors, quadriceps, and core without placing load on the joints, making it ideal for beginners, older adults, or those recovering from injury.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a sturdy chair with feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart, and hands resting lightly on your thighs
  • Engage your core to keep your spine tall and avoid leaning back
  • Lift your right knee upward as high as comfortable, hold briefly at the top
  • Lower your right foot back to the floor with control
  • Lift your left knee in the same manner
  • Continue alternating legs in a rhythmic marching motion for the target duration
