About this exercise

A seated machine leg extension performed with the toes turned inward. The inward rotation biases the outer portion of the quadriceps as the knees extend against the padded lever.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the leg extension machine with your back against the pad and your shins behind the padded lever
  • Turn your toes slightly inward and keep them turned in throughout
  • Grip the handles for stability
  • Extend your legs until your knees are fully straightened, squeezing the quadriceps
  • Slowly lower the lever back to the starting position
  • Repeat, maintaining control and the inward toe position throughout
