About this exercise

A seated upper-body conditioning exercise that mimics the arm motion of a jumping jack while holding a towel taut for resistance. Performed on a padded stool, it elevates the heart rate and engages the shoulders and chest in a rhythmic, low-impact movement.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a padded stool with feet flat on the floor and hold both ends of a towel in front of you at chest height
  • Pull the towel taut and keep it under slight tension throughout the exercise
  • Raise both arms up and out to the sides in a wide arc, as in the upward phase of a jumping jack
  • Continue the arc until your arms are fully extended overhead
  • Lower your arms back down and in along the same arc to return to the start
