About this exercise

The seated frog half to full sit-up is a core exercise performed with the feet in a frog position — soles together and knees flared out to the sides. The movement progresses from a partial range crunch to a full sit-up, providing both upper and lower abdominal activation with reduced hip flexor involvement due to the frog leg positioning.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor and bring the soles of your feet together in front of you with knees opened wide to the sides
  • Lean back to roughly a 45-degree angle with arms extended or crossed over your chest
  • Perform a half sit-up by crunching your upper body forward until your torso is upright
  • Continue the movement into a full sit-up, leaning forward until your chest approaches your feet
  • Squeeze your abs at the top, then lower back to the half-reclined starting position with control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
