About this exercise

A rotational core exercise performed while sitting on a padded stool with feet off the ground, requiring trunk rotation to each side to target the obliques and abdominals. The stool allows a greater range of motion for the torso rotation compared to a floor variation.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the padded stool and lean back slightly so your torso is at roughly a 45-degree angle
  • Lift your feet off the floor and keep your knees bent to balance
  • Clasp your hands together or hold a light weight in front of your chest
  • Rotate your torso to the right, bringing your hands toward your right hip
  • Return to the center, then rotate to the left side
  • Keep your core braced and move with control throughout
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions
