About this exercise

The Rope Pull Side Step combines lateral footwork with a rope pulling action to build cardiovascular endurance and upper body pulling strength simultaneously. The continuous side-step pattern elevates heart rate while the rope pull engages the back, shoulders, and arms.

How to Perform

  • Attach a rope handle to a cable machine set at an adjustable height, or use a battle rope anchored at mid-level
  • Stand facing the anchor point with feet together and knees slightly bent
  • Step sideways away from the anchor while pulling the rope toward your chest with both hands
  • Continue stepping laterally in a steady rhythm, maintaining upright posture
  • Keep your core engaged and hips level throughout the movement
