A self-myofascial release exercise that targets the latissimus dorsi by rolling along the side of the torso. Performed side-lying, it helps break up tissue adhesions and improve thoracic mobility while releasing tension in the lat muscles.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side on the floor with the foam roller positioned under your armpit at the top of your lat
  • Extend your bottom arm straight overhead along the floor for support and to open the lat
  • Use your top hand on the floor and your feet to control your body position and rolling speed
  • Slowly roll from your armpit down toward the bottom of your ribcage, pausing on any tight or tender spots for a few seconds
