About this exercise

A mobility drill using a foam roller to gently release tension in the neck muscles while lying on the floor. Slowly rotating the head on the roller allows targeted myofascial release along the sides and base of the neck, improving range of motion and reducing stiffness.

How to Perform

  • Place a soft foam roller horizontally on the floor
  • Lie on your back and position the roller under the base of your skull
  • Allow your neck and head to relax onto the roller
  • Slowly rotate your head to the right, feeling the roller apply gentle pressure to the left side of your neck
  • Pause when you find a tender spot and breathe slowly until the tension releases
  • Rotate your head back to centre, then continue rotating to the left
  • Move slowly and avoid forcing any rotation beyond your comfortable range
  • Continue for the desired duration, exploring both sides equally
