About this exercise

A passive myofascial release technique where a foam roller is placed under the cervical spine to gently decompress the neck vertebrae and release deep muscle tension. Lying with the neck supported on the roller allows gravity to traction and open the cervical joints.

How to Perform

  • Place a soft foam roller horizontally on the floor
  • Carefully lower yourself so the roller sits at the base of your skull and upper neck
  • Extend your arms out to your sides or rest them on your abdomen
  • Let your neck fully relax and surrender its weight to the roller
  • Breathe slowly and deeply, allowing each exhale to release more tension
  • You may gently nod your head with tiny yes-motions to further open the cervical joints
  • Stay in this position for the desired duration without forcing any movement
  • Roll off the roller carefully to finish
