About this exercise

A foam rolling technique performed lying on the floor that combines glute rolling with a twisting motion to access deeper hip rotator muscles such as the piriformis. The twist allows the roller to reach the outer glute and hip at angles that standard rolling misses.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with the foam roller positioned under one glute
  • Lean back and support yourself with hands on the floor behind you
  • Cross the ankle of the working leg over the opposite knee
  • Slowly twist your torso toward the working side, shifting more weight onto that glute
  • Roll gently back and forth across the glute while maintaining the twist
  • Pause on tight or tender spots for several seconds to encourage release
  • Complete the desired duration, then unwind and repeat on the other side
