About this exercise

A self-myofascial release technique that uses a foam roller to open the chest and release tightness across the pectoral muscles while lying on the floor. This move counteracts rounded-shoulder posture and improves thoracic mobility.

How to Perform

  • Place the foam roller on the floor horizontally (perpendicular to your spine)
  • Sit in front of the roller, then gently lean back so the roller sits across your mid-to-upper back at chest level
  • Allow your arms to spread wide to each side, letting gravity open your chest
  • Keep your feet flat on the floor and your knees bent for support
  • Breathe deeply and relax into the position, allowing the chest to expand over the roller
  • Slowly shift your body to roll up and down along the chest and upper back area, pausing on tight spots
