About this exercise

A self-myofascial release and active mobility drill targeting the inner thigh (adductors) by rolling a ball along the muscle while lying on your side. The active component involves intentionally contracting and relaxing the adductors during rolling to enhance tissue release.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side on a mat with the bottom leg extended and a ball placed under the inner thigh of that leg
  • Prop yourself up on your forearm for support, keeping your top leg bent in front for stability
  • Apply moderate downward pressure onto the ball with your inner thigh
  • Slowly roll the ball along the inner thigh from just above the knee toward the groin
  • When you find a tender spot, pause and actively contract then relax the inner thigh muscles for a few seconds
  • Continue rolling through the full length of the adductors
  • Repeat for the desired number of passes, then switch sides
