About this exercise

A heavily loaded decline push-up performed with hands in gymnastic rings and feet elevated, with a weighted vest adding extra resistance. The combination of ring instability, the decline angle, and the added load makes this one of the most demanding bodyweight chest exercises available.

How to Perform

  • Put on a weighted vest securely and adjust it so it does not shift during the movement
  • Set gymnastic rings low to the ground and position a bench or elevated surface behind you
  • Grip the rings and place your feet on the elevated surface, forming a decline body angle
  • Brace your core and keep your body in a rigid straight line throughout
  • Lower your chest toward the floor, allowing the elbows to flare slightly and the rings to rotate naturally
  • Descend until your chest is just above the rings, then press powerfully back to the start
  • Squeeze the chest at full extension and control every rep
