About this exercise

The ring supine crunch is a core exercise where you lie on your back with your feet secured in gymnastic rings. By curling your torso upward in a crunch motion, the instability of the rings increases the demand on your abs and stabilizing muscles throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Set gymnastic rings close to the ground and lie on your back with feet secured in the rings
  • Extend your legs straight so they are elevated slightly off the floor
  • Place your hands behind your head or cross them over your chest
  • Exhale and curl your upper back and shoulders off the floor, contracting your abs
  • Hold the top position briefly, then slowly lower your torso back to the floor
  • Keep your lower back pressed toward the floor throughout the movement
