About this exercise

The ring straddle L-sit is a gymnastic isometric hold where the body is suspended above the rings with legs spread wide in a straddle position and held horizontal. It builds exceptional abdominal strength, hip flexor endurance, and upper-body pressing stability.

How to Perform

  • Grip the gymnastic rings at hip height with straight arms, standing between them
  • Press down into the rings to lift your body off the ground
  • Raise both legs out to the sides into a wide straddle position, keeping them as high and horizontal as possible
  • Hold the position with locked-out arms, depressed and protracted shoulders, and a tight core
  • Keep the rings turned out slightly for wrist and elbow stability
  • Lower your feet back to the ground with control when the hold is complete
