About this exercise

The ring incline push-up is a bodyweight chest exercise performed with gymnastic rings set at an elevated height, allowing the body to remain at an inclined angle. The instability of the rings increases demand on the stabilizing muscles of the shoulder and core compared to a fixed-surface incline push-up, making it an effective progression toward full ring push-ups.

How to Perform

  • Set gymnastic rings at roughly chest height and grip one ring in each hand
  • Walk your feet back and lean into the rings so your body forms a straight inclined line from head to heels
  • Keep your core tight and your body rigid throughout the movement
  • Bend your elbows and lower your chest toward the rings, allowing a slight inward rotation of the rings
  • Press back up to full arm extension while maintaining body alignment
  • Adjust the foot position closer or farther from the anchor point to increase or decrease difficulty
