About this exercise

A core stability exercise that challenges the torso to resist rotation while performing a diagonal chopping motion against resistance band tension. The wide stance base and anti-rotation demand build functional core strength that transfers to athletic and everyday movements.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a resistance band at shoulder height and stand perpendicular to the anchor point in a wide stance
  • Hold the band with both hands, arms extended toward the anchor
  • Without rotating your hips or torso, pull the band diagonally downward and across your body to the opposite hip
  • Pause briefly at the end of the movement, maintaining a stable, square stance
  • Return the band under control to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch to the other side
