About this exercise

A triceps isolation exercise performed with a resistance band anchored overhead, mimicking the cable pushdown movement. The band provides progressive resistance as the arms extend, making it an accessible alternative to the cable machine for training the triceps at home or on the go.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a resistance band at a high point overhead (e.g. a pull-up bar or door anchor)
  • Grip the band with both hands, palms facing down, and stand facing the anchor
  • Position your elbows close to your sides at roughly 90 degrees with upper arms stationary
  • Push the band downward by extending your elbows until your arms are fully straight
  • Squeeze the triceps at the bottom of the movement
  • Slowly return to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
