The Resistance Band Standing Wood Chopper is a rotational core exercise that uses an anchored resistance band to simulate a diagonal chopping motion from high to low. It targets the obliques, abs, and shoulders while training rotational power and anti-rotation stability.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band at shoulder height or above at your side
  • Stand perpendicular to the anchor point with feet shoulder-width apart, holding the band handle with both hands
  • Extend your arms and pull the band diagonally downward across your body, rotating from the hips and torso
  • Finish the movement with the band handle near your opposite hip, arms extended
  • Control the band back to the starting position without letting it snap
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch to the other
