About this exercise

The resistance band standing shoulder internal rotation targets the internal rotators of the shoulder, primarily the subscapularis and anterior deltoid. Performed with a band anchored at elbow height, it is widely used in rotator cuff rehabilitation and shoulder prehabilitation protocols.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a resistance band at elbow height to a stable object beside you
  • Stand sideways to the anchor with the band in your near hand
  • Bend your elbow to 90 degrees and keep your upper arm against your side
  • Rotate your forearm inward across your abdomen against the band's resistance
  • Hold for a brief moment at the end range of motion
  • Slowly return your forearm to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch arms
