About this exercise

A rotator-cuff strengthening exercise performed standing with a resistance band. Keeping the elbow fixed at the side, you rotate the forearm outward against band tension, targeting the posterior shoulder muscles and improving shoulder stability and posture.

How to Perform

  • Anchor the resistance band at elbow height to a sturdy object or hold one end in the opposite hand
  • Stand sideways to the anchor point and hold the band with the working arm
  • Bend the working elbow to 90 degrees and keep it pressed firmly against your side
  • Rotate your forearm away from your body, moving outward as far as comfortably possible
  • Hold the end position for a moment, focusing on the squeeze in the rear shoulder
  • Slowly return the forearm to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one arm before switching to the other side
