About this exercise

A single-leg stability and hip-strengthening exercise where you stand on one foot and lift the opposite leg out to the side against a resistance band. This challenges both the hip abductors of the working leg and the balance and stabilising muscles of the standing leg.

How to Perform

  • Loop the resistance band around both ankles and stand tall on one foot
  • Slightly bend the standing knee and engage your core for balance
  • Raise the free leg out to the side as far as comfortable against the band tension
  • Hold briefly at the top, keeping your hips level and torso upright
  • Slowly lower the leg back toward the standing foot without touching the floor
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
