About this exercise

A single-leg glute exercise that challenges both hip extension strength and standing balance. With a resistance band anchored around the ankles, you kick one leg back while balancing on the other, isolating the glutes and testing core stability simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Loop the resistance band around both ankles and stand tall with feet together
  • Shift your weight onto one foot and slightly soften the standing knee
  • Engage your core and fix your gaze on a point ahead for balance
  • Kick the free leg straight back, squeezing the glute at the top
  • Hold briefly at the peak contraction, keeping the hips square and level
  • Slowly return the leg to the starting position without touching the floor
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
