About this exercise

A standing unilateral stretch that uses a resistance band to deepen the inner thigh and hip adductor lengthening during a lateral lunge. The band adds gentle tension to increase the range of the stretch and improve hip mobility.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding one end of a resistance band anchored at a low point to your side
  • Step one foot wide to the side, toes pointing slightly outward
  • Shift your weight onto the lunging leg, bending the knee while keeping the opposite leg straight
  • Use the band tension to gently pull into a deeper side lunge position
  • Keep your chest tall and hips facing forward throughout
  • Hold the stretched position for the prescribed duration, feeling the stretch through the inner thigh
  • Return to the starting position and repeat on the other side
