About this exercise

The resistance band shoulder stretch behind the back is a mobility exercise that uses a band held in both hands behind the body to open the anterior deltoids and chest. Gradually widening the grip or pulling gently increases the stretch intensity in a controlled, adjustable way.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and hold a resistance band with both hands behind your back
  • Keep your arms straight and grip the band at a comfortable width
  • Gently pull the band apart or lift your arms slightly upward to feel a stretch across the front of the shoulders and chest
  • Keep your chest open and avoid hunching your shoulders forward
  • Hold the stretch for the desired duration, breathing steadily
  • Slowly release the tension and relax between repetitions
