About this exercise

A shoulder mobility drill that uses a foam roller and resistance band to load the serratus anterior as you slide your arms up the wall. The foam roller reduces friction and reinforces protraction throughout the movement, while the band adds light resistance to challenge scapular control.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a wall and place the foam roller vertically against it at chest height
  • Loop a resistance band around both wrists with light tension
  • Press both forearms into the foam roller and engage your core
  • Push through your hands to protract your shoulder blades away from your spine
  • Slowly slide the foam roller up the wall by reaching both arms overhead while keeping protraction
  • Hold the top position briefly, then slide back down under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
